Seeking Truth through Science, Empirical Evidence through Data
Author: Tian Xingjian
The standardization of K-line data is the greatest advantage.
By comparing with the classic response periods (Yingqi) of I Ching Six Lines, the theory of response periods can be accurately verified.
Unlike other forms of personnel prediction, which often lack unified standards and accurate feedback.
Experiments can be conducted and data recorded every week or even every day, providing the foundation and feasibility for big data research.
Based on the probability theory of I Ching Six Lines from the previous lesson, we can focus our research solely on Static Hexagrams (Jing Gua) and Single Moving Lines (Dan Dong Yao).
Static Hexagrams and Single Moving Lines cover 53% of all hexagram images, fully meeting the needs of financial forecasting.
Additionally, the relatively simpler cases of Two Moving Lines can also be studied, thereby increasing the researchable rate to nearly 70%.
The remaining 30% of complex situations can be temporarily set aside.
The probability of encountering simple hexagrams is 53% or even 70%.
The probability of a historical hexagram existing in big data is about 50%.
The probability of having multiple historical hexagrams is about 30%.
We can increase the probability of having support from multiple historical hexagrams by casting hexagrams multiple times or having multiple people cast hexagrams.
For example: When there is no data for the first hexagram, cast a second or even a third hexagram a few hours later.
It is recommended to conduct research based on Hexagram Name + Moving Lines.
Static Hexagram + Primary Hexagram Name = 64 types
One Moving Line + Wealth Spouse (Qi Cai) Activated ≈ 12 types
One Moving Line + Sibling (Xiong Di) Activated ≈ 12 types
One Moving Line + Parent (Fu Mu) Activated ≈ 12 types
One Moving Line + Offspring (Zi Sun) Activated ≈ 12 types
One Moving Line + Official Ghost (Guan Gui) Activated ≈ 12 types
One Moving Line + Earthly Branch Combination = 12 × 12 = 144 types
One Moving Line + Primary Hexagram Name = 64 × 6 = 384 types
Two Moving Lines + Primary Hexagram Name = 64 × 15 = 960 types
Static Hexagram (Jing Gua)
- Determine the Useful God (Yong Shen)
- Useful God in旬空 (Xun Kong - Emptiness period)
- Useful God in月破 (Yue Po - Broken by Month)
- Useful God receiving日合 (Ri He - Combined by Day)
- Useful God receiving月合 (Yue He - Combined by Month)
- Useful God hidden (Fu Cang)
- Useful God aligned with the Month and Day (Zhi Yue Zhi Ri)
- Other special characteristics...
One Moving Line (Dan Dong Yao)
- Determine the Useful God (Yong Shen)
- Useful God in Xun Kong
- Useful God Activated (Fa Dong)
- Useful God transforms into破 (Po - Broken)
- Other special characteristics...
Establish a case database according to unified catalog standards.
Each case must record:
- Primary Hexagram
- Condition of Moving Lines
- Condition of the Useful God
- Special Characteristics
- Actual K-line trend
- Verification result of the Response Period (Yingqi)
This facilitates subsequent statistical analysis and validation of patterns.

The financial market possesses a vast amount of standardized historical data.
Every trading day generates new verification samples.
Various response period (Yingqi) patterns within I Ching Six Lines theory can be repeatedly validated against historical data.
Therefore, financial prediction is one of the most suitable fields for conducting I Ching Six Lines big data research.
The number of cases can grow continuously.
Research results can be shared.
Different researchers can repeatedly validate the same patterns.
Ultimately, this forms an accumulative, verifiable, and replicable big data system.
Classify by Primary Hexagram Name.
Main research focuses on three situations: Static Hexagram (Jing Gua), One Moving Line, and Two Moving Lines.
Key areas of focus:
- Xun Kong (Emptiness period)
- Yue Po (Broken by Month)
- Moving Line transforms into Emptiness (Dong Hua Kong)
- Moving Line transforms into Broken (Dong Hua Po)
- Fu Cang (Hidden)
- Ru Mu (Entering Tomb)
- He (Combined) by Month or Day
And verify how these manifest in the daily K-line trend during their corresponding Response Periods (Yingqi).
Search for: Primary Hexagram "Qian Wei Tian" + One Moving Line.
Identify data where the Moving Line is in Xun Kong (Emptiness).
Observe if there are significant abnormal movements in the K-line on the flow days corresponding to Chu Kong (Emptiness ending) or Chong Kong (Emptiness clashing).
If a significant drop occurs on the Chu Kong or Chong Kong days, it can be inferred that the Moving Line might be a Ji Shen (God of Jeopardy).
Continue statistical analysis on more cases with the same structure for verification.
Search for: "Huo Shan Lu" + Wealth Spouse (Qi Cai) Activated.
Identify data where the Wealth Spouse, represented by Shen or You (Metal branches), is in Xun Kong.
Observe the K-line and you may find: Significant drops occur on all flow day response periods that are Yin day or Shen day (days that clash or end the emptiness).
However, after the Yin or Shen day, the price may reverse and rise.
One could preliminarily conclude: Wealth Spouse Shen Metal is a Ji Shen (God of Jeopardy) or Qiu Shen (God of Revenge).
Subsequently, verify this with more historical cases.
Because the Useful God (Yong Shen) in I Ching Six Lines securities and futures prediction is not fixed.
Under the same hexagram name, the likelihood that the Useful God is the same is greatest.
Therefore, using the 64 Hexagram Names as the classification basis makes it easier to accurately determine the Useful God and the God of Jeopardy.
The Moving Line is key in I Ching Six Lines analysis.
The Moving Line might be in Xun Kong or transform into Xun Kong.
The flow days of Chu Kong (emptiness ending) and Chong Kong (emptiness clashing) are important verification rules in I Ching Six Lines.
Additionally:
- Yue Po (Broken by Month)
- Ru Mu (Entering Tomb)
- Hua Jue (Transforming into Extremity)
- Fu Cang (Hidden)
- He (Combined) by Month or Day
These are also classic response period characteristics.
Through long-term observation and statistical verification, their actual effects can be progressively confirmed.
